As with all great ideas Fhyre started from a need that we could not fill.
We needed a hammer drill to drill a hole in a concrete wall out the front of our house. We have never needed one before and it was not worth our while buying one for just this job. So we talked to our friends to see if anyone had one and sure enough John’s friend Bill’s father had one.
And that got us thinking – what else is out there sitting in people’s garages that never gets used but that might be useful to someone? When we started running this idea past people we knew we found hundreds of different items – from kayaks to racing wheels for bicycles, from theodolites to high pressure pumps.
So our aim was to create a place online where you could not only hire out items from your garage that you hardly ever used and where we could get items for a cheap rental that were not worth your while buying but where you could also get to know more people in your neighbourhood.
